Recertification
Certification is maintained, not merely renewed. Every pathway is independently verified.
Diplomates maintain certification on a defined cycle through pathways that reflect how experienced surgeons actually demonstrate continuing competence: examination, or documented professional contribution, continuing education, teaching, scholarship, and peer engagement, each item verified rather than attested.
Lapsed certification is shown as expired in the public verification record until requirements are completed. Details and the diplomate portfolio tool are in the diplomate portal.
